Alexandros Nouskas Varelas

Was born and is based in Athens, graduated from National School of Dance (KSOT) in 2018 and has studied Spanish Literature at Kapodistrian University of Athens.
​ He has been experimenting with theater, video and film making since 2013. With his works he combines the body's movement and its connotations with the narrative tools of the camera, editing and fiction's dramaturgy. His works have been screened in festivals around Europe and Greece such as Athens Video Dance Project, ScreenDance Festival in Stockholm, SzólóDuó festival - Ork_Kota_Platform in Budapest and the International Dance Film Festival in Brussels.
​ As a dancer he has worked with Hellenic Dance Company, Christos Papadopoulos, Ki Omos Kineitai Dance Company and Ioanna Portolou's Griffón Dance Company, with performances in Greece and abroad in theaters and venues such as Athens & Epidaurus Festival, VIDY Theatre, Theatre de la Ville, Les Halles, International Theater Amsterdam, Le Lieu Unique, Dampfzentrale,I Teatri, Le Quartz, Culturgest, Festival de Otono, Roma Europa Festival, Chorege and Atelier de Paris/CDCN’s festival, Onassis Stegi.
He has collaborated with Costas Gavras as an assistant choreographer on “Adults in the room” and with Elpiniki Voutsa Retzepopoulou as an assistant director on “Who will be eaten?”. He was awarded a scholarship for the Return Trip Project by Athens & Epidaurus Festival and Stavros Niarchos Foundation. He has been awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS (2021).
